Best Christmas Gift Ideas for Jesus

Best Christmas Gift Ideas for Jesus

During this time of the year I always wonder what kinds of gifts Master would like for his birthday. Here I share my three best Christmas gift ideas for Jesus to help us disciples honor the Lord on his special day. Each gift relies on the power of the Holy Spirit  to unite and heal us (God willing).

Best Christmas Gift Ideas for Jesus

“Sounds wonderful!” one might exclaim. “So how much will all of this cost me?”

Lo, O jaded Amazon shopper. Be thou not afraid. The question is a fair one, especially when choosing a gift fit for a king. The items on Master’s gift list are free, but two of them carry an emotional price tag. Which means that they require a little more effort than simply reciting a prayer. After all, no gift is too rich for the one who gave his life to bring freedom, love, peace, and joy to the world. Therefore:

The best Christmas gift ideas for Jesus (and us) are gifts of love.

We need not wonder what Master might want this year because he sent us his gift list a long time ago.

The Beatitudes

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn, for they will be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy.

Matthew 5:1-12

The term “blessed,” in Christ’s parlance in fact means “happy.” That little gift alone should inspire us to wrap a few love bombs. But first, note the structure within each verse. Who is giving and who is receiving here? It’s a tough call. In the end, everyone—people, Christ, the Holy Spirit, and Father God—are giving and receiving at the same time. In each case the gifts are love, compassion, and a richer life for all.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Jesus #1 | Mystic Union with a Stranger

“I was a stranger and you invited me in”

From a quiet space try to imagine the feelings that are occurring right now to a stranger who is injured, dying, starving, or in trouble.

The news channels can provide an endless number of needy people who need our compassion and love. For this gift, however, I recommend against using the media as our source because it profits on death and darkness. In our case we want to create light, so we will trust Mother (the Holy Spirit) to help us connect to a needy subject. This method reduces personal bias and improves our ability to experience compassion. For that same reason, if you think it easier to connect with someone you know choose Jesus. Imagine Christ on the cross for example, scared, beaten, and dying.

Of course I get a bit teary whenever I take on these feelings but that is the point. The goal here is to end up weeping.

Create a Mystical Union

Recline in a private, silent space. Lie on your back with eyes closed and cross both palms over your solar plexus. Most important, ask Jesus (or Father) to fill you and cleanse your body.

Imagine your subject. Inhale deeply and feel him or her enter your body. When you exhale, reverse the positions so that you are now inside your subject. Repeat until you feel a two-in-one sensation. This is a wonderful divine energy. When you reach this state, be assured that you have company. From this point forward listen and follow your own guidance.

Afterwards be sure to ask Christ to enter once more and purge any energies that are not your own. Pay attention to the space around you. You might see faint, white clouds as they exit your abdomen, chest, or eyes.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Jesus #2 | Worldwide Forgiveness

“Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us”

This gift requires that we forgive every human being on earth—alive or dead. Asking for universal forgiveness costs us nothing. It pleases God and requires less than a minute. As such I think that this gift is the most powerful of the three. It certainly rates as one of the best Christmas gift ideas for Jesus.

Just before he returns to heaven Master grants believers the power, via the Holy Spirit, to forgive sin. Whether you are alone or partying on a couch-full of merry brothers and sisters, recall the things you wished you hadn’t done. Then ask God to forgive yourself and everyone on earth. Forgiveness fosters joy from the knowing that every person now has a clean slate.

Note: judging someone’s state of sin is not the best Christmas gift idea for Jesus. Thus it is necessary to wrap this one with pure childlike emotion. In tough cases such as Adolph Hitler, for example, judgment can seem almost unavoidable. Try this simple all-in-one approach: “Father, tonight I ask you to forgive every person of their sins *if they have sinned.* I ask for this in the Name of the Holy Spirit and Christ, our Lord. Amen.”

Jesus said, “Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.” And with that he breathed on them and said, “Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone’s sins, their sins are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.”
John 20:21-23

Christmas Gift Ideas for Jesus #3 | Speak openly about God

“What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.”

Ouch. This gift, if hastily wrapped, might bankrupt you. More risky than discussing politics, sports, race, or sex, using Father’s name in public can feel uncomfortable for everyone including yourself.

Speaking from my own experience, it takes real courage to tell the night-shift cashier why I love God/Jesus, or share a recent wisdom that Master gave me. Despite the fact that I freely use God’s Name here and with my friends and human family, I sometimes cringe when I feel it creeping up my throat during a casual conversation. This minor hardship relates to the Cross of Christ. As such, helping Master carry his heavy burden in any manner makes this one of the best Christmas gift idea for Jesus. But can you afford it? Own it, seeker. Be brave and state your point. But make sure that it fits the context of your statement and applies to your audience.

I love you, I trust you, and I believe in you. Have a blessed Christmas.

Happy birthday Master!
